E.R. Wagner Increases Stamping Capacity
E.R. Wagner Manufacturing Company, Hinges and
Stampings Division, has
completed installation of a 400 Ton press and Cooper-Weymouth, Peterson
(CWP) 36" coil processing system, to allow increased of the internal
stamping capacity to handle 36" x .125", 24" x .187" and
12" x .250" materials from 15,000lb coils.
The
CWP system includes an SMXIII36H high
capacity two roll feed with anti-backup rolls,
adjustable height cabinet, automatic lubrication
system and adjustable edge guides, and touchscreen
operator interface platform. The feed control
utilizes "Total System Control" technology,
which allows standard feed parameters, as
well as the straightener roll position parameters,
to be stored, recalled, and automatically
set from job memory.
Providing
precision straightening control is CWP's Model 36HDD7
straightener, equipped
with automatic lubrication, and adjustable
edge guides. The straightener utilizes backed-up
nominal diameter rolls with entry and exit
pneumatically operated pinch rolls to provide
the widest effective straightening range
in the industry. Furthermore, the straightener
is equipped with powered straightener roll
adjustment, which allows the operator the
versatility of adjusting the banked upper
rolls through either up/down controls at
the straightener touchscreen, by automatic
positioning to a pre-set position through
simple material thickness input, or by job
selection call-up from the feed control.
In order to better provide control
of the heavier materials during the threading
process,
an integrated hold-down peeler system with
hold-down arm, powered rider roll, peeler
table and peeler blade is located at the
entrance of the straightener. The integrated
system includes hydraulically driven threading
rolls, which drive the material's leading
edge into a hydraulic operated coil end wing
bender that provides the ability to flatten,
upturn, or downturn the leading edge for
entrance into the straightener entry pinch
rolls. The wing bender system can also be
used to assist in preparing the damaged tail
end of the coil to allow passing through
the straightener.
A 15,000lb, Model 5R-36
Uncoiler provides support for the coils up to 72" OD ,
equipped with hydraulic expansion, inching
drive and a fail-safe braking system. For
further control of the thicker materials,
a secondary hold-down arm is located at the
back of the uncoiler.
To allow preparation and staging of coils,
a Model 15036CLC/CU Combination Coil Loading
Car and Upender provides the ability to raise
the coils from an "eye-to-the sky" to
a vertical position, then raises to align
the coil ID with the uncoiler spindle, and
traverses to load the next coil.
Tying
the entire coil processing system together
is CWP's consolidated control technology
with our exclusive "Auto-Ready" system.
Through ladder logic PLC platform structure,
interfacing ensures that all threading sequences
are performed in the proper order. Touchscreen
technology provides the operator with graphically
displayed step-by-step threading procedures,
as well as detailed preventive maintenance
procedures and fault/control diagnostics
with recommended remedies.
